We’ve been posting a series on Salt Water Pools (See Troubleshooting Salt Water Chlorination Swimming Pools Part 1, Troubleshooting Salt Water Chlorination Swimming Pools Part 2 , Troubleshooting Salt Water Chlorination Swimming Pools Part 3) addressing some of the common problems pool owners experience with salt water swimming pools and spas. If you still are stumped, we have one final suggestion before you decide to call in the experts.
Remove the salt cell from the system.* (If this is beyond your comfort zone, it’s time to call a pool professional!) Create an acid solution (low pH) composed of one part hydrochloric acid to five parts water. Place the salt cell in the solution for five minutes. If you have a high pH level in your salt water cell, this will remove any scale. After five minutes, rinse the salt cell and return it to the system. *Before you do this, be sure to check the manufacturer’s recommendations!
We hope this resolves any problems you are experiencing with your salt water swimming pool chlorination system. If not, maybe you should consider replacing your equipment altogether with state-of-the-art pumps, filters and controls. If so, please call Treasure Pool Builders at 1-800-281-7946 or contact us online to request a free consultation. We won’t steer you wrong.
