Determining what size or shape you build your swimming pool is dependent on many factors. Your swimming pool and backyard are a reflection of your home and the style in which you wish to reflect in these design choices. A swimming pool is a common addition to homes in South Florida and our team at Treasure Pools is there to help guide your decisions along the way based on key factors such as space, budget and design aesthetic.  Here we share a few of the most popular shapes that we see homeowners select for their swimming pool.

A free form swimming pool shape is exactly as it states. It allows for a flow without shape edges and is the most space-friendly option depending on the size of your backyard. These shapes can fit within various backyards as they are completely customizable. They also often mimic nature and blend in with the surrounding area and landscaping. These designs tend to be more expensive as they take longer to build, but the cost can vary on the design and what materials are used.

On the opposite end of free form pools, there are geometric-shaped pools. These shapes do have edges and can look like a cascade of geometric shapes throughout with sharps or straight lines. This can also include rectangles. Rectangles may not be the most creative but there are a lot of possibilities in which you can adopt this shape to your backyard space. Rectangular pools are also the most common and work well in tighter spaces. They also work best if you have decided to add an infinity edge to your pool.

If you have a very large space, circular shapes such as an oval can work. This is also a traditional shape for children’s pools. Other designs can bring in outside influencers such as Roman, which has a significant effect on any backyard environment.

Much like the rest of the design process, even selecting the shape of your swimming pool can be a bit overwhelming. Contact us today to learn a bit more about what option would work best for you and your backyard space.
